Ben Nevis Distillery & the Caledonian Canal

The Ben Nevis Distillery is one of the oldest in Scotland. Our national drink is brewed at the foot of Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, which provides an amazing backdrop to the distillery. After sampling a dram your coach will explore the Caledonian Canal – a magnificent feat of Scottish engineering stretching 60 miles through the stunning Great Glen. The Canal is an engineering masterpiece and Neptune’s Staircase, built by Thomas Telford between 1803-1822, is the longest staircase lock in Britain.

Jacobite Steam Train

The Jacobite Steam Train is described as the greatest railway journey in the world and explores some of the best landscapes in the Scottish Highlands. The trip begins near Ben Nevis, Great Britain’s highest mountain, before heading west to Arisaig. The Jacobite line then passes close by the deepest freshwater Loch in Britain, Loch Morar, and the shortest river in Britain, River Morar. Finally, the train passes alongside Loch Nevis, the deepest seawater Loch in Europe.

Eilean Donan Castle & journey over Skye Bridge

Visit Scotland’s most romantic castle – Eilean Donan. Strategically located on its own little island where three great sea lochs meet, this castle offers a glimpse into Scotland’s turbulent history from the rise of Christianity to Viking invasions and Jacobite rebellions! Eilean Donan retains most of its original features including winding hallways and uneven stone steps. We will also journey over the Skye bridge which connects the mainland village of Kyle of Lochalsh to the village of Kyleakin on Skye. - Weather permitting you will be taken on to the Isle of Skye for a photo stop and we will endeavour to try and book a ferry crossing over to Skye. (Please note, this day may be done in reverse).

Glencoe, Rannoch Moor & Oban

Glencoe is undoubtedly the most popular and scenic glen in Scotland. The sheer scale and grandeur of the landscape is sure to inspire and the turbulent history of the area will fascinate visitors. Then visit nearby Rannoch Moor - one of Scotland's outstanding areas of natural wilderness, before heading to the west coast. The largest town in Argyll & The Isles, Oban is known as the 'Gateway to the Isles' and is the 'Seafood Capital of Scotland'. Oban has a way of drawing out the romantic side of visitors, with its mists that roll in from the sea and the hills which overlook the bay. The most iconic feature within Oban is McCaig's Tower, a Colosseum lookalike that stands above the town and offers wonderful views out west. From seafood to whisky, Oban offers a great range of local produce - all well worth sampling!

Day at Leisure

Time to take one of the local walks amid the beautiful town or, if there is sufficient interest, an optional tour may be arranged.

A visit to the Loch Ness Centre

Discover the history of Loch Ness from the ice age to the third millennium in a seven room, themed, automated walk through. Explore the history of the loch and the many mysteries and explorations that have surrounded its past. Learn about the rumours, the hoaxes and the truths and discover what may really live in Loch Ness. Using a highly effective mixture of animations, lasers and special effects, visitors can experience the history of the monster by exploring Scotland’s geological past and folklore. Find out what has been discovered and what research has been done and view some of the actual equipment used to explore and navigate the Loch.
