Blair Castle & Blair Atholl

Discover Blair Castle’s 700 year history through the fascinating past of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. Dating back to 1269, the castle has been central to much of Scottish history. From Mary Queen of Scots to the Civil War, and from Jacobite rebellions to the disaster of Culloden following Bonnie Prince Charlie’s own stay at the castle. Discover how Queen Victoria’s stay led to the creation of Europe’s only private army, the Atholl Highlanders, and the transformation of this unique castle from a strategic stronghold to a Baronial Victorian home.
A visit to the Royal Deeside
Braemar and Ballater lie in the heart of Royal Deeside and are within the Cairngorms National Park. Surrounded by hidden glens and beautiful mountain scenery these villages have long standing royal connections with many of the shops and businesses displaying Royal warrants of the Royal Family. The family are notoriously fond of the Scottish Highlands and this trip offers a chance to explore the area that held so much charm for Queen Victoria & Prince Albert.
St Andrews
This famous town is known worldwide as ‘The Home of Golf’ and is also home to Scotland’s oldest university. There is plenty to see and do in St Andrews from wandering the medieval centre with its cobbled streets and narrow alleyways, to exploring the castle and ruined cathedral. The charm of the town continues down to the shore where there are two long sandy beaches which look out to the North Sea.
